Hi y'all! The market on WD is UNSTABLE. So a thought struck me, what if we started a Merchants' Guild that could keep prices stable, discourage undercutting, and support the other sellers on the TC?
I kicked this idea around to some of the folks in the Fox Coalition discord, and a few agreed to trying out a Merchants' Guild. @DarkDragonfly, @enbee, @Remmie, @OrangeNeon, @snail are all the original co-founders of this idea. This idea was inspired by @Irn's really great thread on making the pup market more stable; she is also an admin for the Guild!
Membership Rules:
All WD Code of Conduct terms apply
-If admins suspect you are under the age of 16, we are obligated to report your WD profile.
Being part of the guild means you agree to price your items based on established/agreed upon market trends. If you undercut a specific market the following actions will be taken:
-1st warning: a private reminder
-2nd warning: server-wide mute
-3rd warning: immediate ban
-(this rule has not yet been initiated, because many guilds are not yet ready with pricing!)
There will be no transphobia, homophobia, racism, whorephobia, classism, ableism, xenophobia, fatphobia, etc. We will be extremely intolerant of any intolerance. We want members to feel safe and welcome. The following actions will be taken if a user harms others in any way:
-1st warning: private reminder
-2nd warning: server-wide mute
-3rd warning: immediate ban
As a privacy concern, do not DM other members unless they have explicitly given you permission to do so.
Consequences will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Friends, its an association/group formed to promote the economic interests of its members as well as provide a network of mutual aid.
What are some of the guild types that could be implemented through WD?
Plenty! We have a few, but they can always be expanded to include more:
Pup market - puppies
Toy tinkerers - amusement
Butcher shop - food/meat
Herbalists - herbs/medicine
Stocks - currency
Miscellaneous Collectors - extras
Cave Materials
Sounds nice, but what are the benefits of joining a guild when I can just sell my hoard independent of "enforcement"?
There's plenty more benefits than just enforcement that go into guilds!:
competition restriction through monopoly -- or at least getting a lot of people that sell a particular item to agree to a price/price range
price regulation -- less undercutting; the more people who agree to a standard price, the more likely it is to start a domino effect on other people, and then it doesn't matter if some stray people undercut the market, because there would be too few "strays" undercutting to actually affect the market
community
customers within the guild! Got a pup auction thread that isn't gaining traction? You can share the link with your fellow guild members and you'll probably get more customers! People tend to buy from other users they already know/have a relationship with
Exclusive invitations to events/raffles - we just did a fox raffle for our members! Free of cost, all they had to do was submit a name suggestion and a backstory as their ticket "price"
Maybe an insignia for membership
Discounts on services/goods from within the guild - studs, items, pups, you name it!
Artificial supply limits -- this alleviates the supply vs. demand inequalities. If there are fewer options, people are more likely to pay the standard (set) price for the item. But if they have more options, customers are more likely to browse the TC until the get a "better" deal
